Jay and Dottie Brennan and Children

Dover-Foxcroft, Maine

Greetings from the Brennan Family!

We live in a small town in north central Maine, about 35 miles northwest of Bangor, Maine. The town, Dover-Foxcroft is well known for its beautiful fields of lupines, lakes and moose.

Our family moved to Maine in 1989 after having lived in Pittsburgh,PA., Baltimore,MD., and St.Petersburg,FL. Maine has been a wonderful place to raise our children. Winters are cold and snowy, but summers are glorious. The coast is the best in the east. The water is a little chilly but the shoreline is majestic.

We are a blended family with seven wonderful children, who have now grown up and started families of their own. Tim, our oldest, is a chemical engineer in the Boston area. He and his wife Meagan live in Maynard, MA. Ellen was a student at Calvin College and the University of Maine. She and her husband John Jacott live Chester, New Hampshire with our five granchildren, Caius Lucius,Kiersten,Julia, and Grace. Jayme graduated fromGordon College, a Christian liberal arts school outside of Boston, where she majored in biblical history. Jayme and her husband David Chenoweth are working and living in Brookfield, CT.

John and Stephen graduated respectively from Bentley College and Worcester Polytechnical Institute. John is working in finance in Danvers, MA and is married to Kerry Courtney of Melrose, MA. They make their home in Stoneham, MA. Stephen is working as an electrical engineering in the Washington D.C. area. Stephen and his wife Caitlin live in Raliegh,NC. David is also a graduate of Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and is employed by Raytheon in MA. Anne and her husband Todd Deluck are working in the northern New Jersey area, but hoping to return to Maine someday.

All of the children graduated from Foxcroft Academy, a private New England day and boarding school founded in 1823 and located here in Dover-Foxcroft.

Dottie who graduated from Geneva College and the University of Maine , teaches physics and chemistry at Foxcroft Academy. Jay serves as the Associate Head of School for Advancement at Foxcroft Academy and oversees Development, Admissions and Residential Life. On weekends he often has the opportunity to serve as a supply pastor for some of the small rural churches in our area. Jay graduated from Slippery Rock State University, the Reformed Presbyterian Seminary of Pittsburgh , and later the University of Maine

. While all of our children are grown (8 grandchildren!) our house remains active with children as we house a few of the boarding students at Foxcroft Academy. You can read our family blog entitled Boarding School Adventures. In addition, Dottie loves to garden, cross country ski and play tennis. In the summer we spend a good deal of time on Sebec Lake and the children join us as their work schedules permit. Jay is also working on the geneology of his family (Brennan and Chapman).

As a couple we spend time exploring places we have never seen...especially along the coast. In particular, we are fond of the Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park area and anyone who comes to visit us is guaranteed a tour. Dottie has climbed, many mountains in our area, including Katahdin.

We always make time for visiting the grandchildren, who live only a few hours south of us. Breakfast at McDonalds, a trip to the park, a good game of soccer and a bedtime story make for a great day with grandkids.

As a family we work at expressing our Christian faith in all of life. We worship with our friends at the First Baptist Church of Dexter where Jay currently serves as the Teaching Pastor.

If you are in the area look us up; we always have an extra lobster in the pot.

In the picture on the left taken in 2001 we are all a little older and we have added two grandchildren and three son in laws and three daughter in laws.
